Dangerous, exciting and breathtaking all at the same time.

For a second time the Neocron Air Race was held. Nine participants followed the reputation of Drakostarr and his clan DBrotherhood (N.E.x.T) and made their way to the cliffs of A07. With a lot of sweat and hard work, the organizers had prepared a demanding course, which challenged all pilots with a flying license to the highest measure of their flying skill. Gathered on the short take-off and landing strip where a small band of Spectators and dignitaries. The nervousness of all the pilots was clear to see. It was all there for their taking: fame and glory or the ignominity of a defeat!

There was silence at the starting line

The starting signal sounded and all pilots accelerated their Gliders to maximum speed in a matter of seconds. All that remained was a dust cloud…

The pilots where on their way to find the the checkpoints, At which they could pick up a data cube as evidence they had made it there. Some of the pilots were able to separate from the main field and flew their own way to reach the goal.

Suddenly engine noises could be heard in the distance as Vivec’s Glider approached the runway to take first place and glided safely to the ground. He Happily manoeuvred his plane across the goal line to the cheers of the spectators. Some distance behind him came Kiako Lalene, a young pilot from N.E.x.T, on which all hopes of the Vehicle Group were placed, and second place clearly did not disappoint Kiako. For third place Kyosuke Izutsu flew his machine in for landing shortly after Kiako. Hogg and Dkaja Followed shortly after to take places of honour as fourth and fith place while the spectators were celebrating the victories of the first 3 places.

Unfortunately, the race was also marked by tragedy. All participants had very difficult weather and wind conditions to fight. Alternate sun, rain and heavy snowfall affected the visibility of the pilots. Unfortunately not all participants were able to achieve the goal, but managed to successfully attempt emergency landings. The race management informed us that the “mis-fortunate pilots” were rescued by a rapid rescue force of doctors, and were air lifted to MediCare.

Finally, the Fair Play of the pilots indicates that the race gave nothing but friendly fun for all, in spite of various faction affiliation differences there was no trouble either within the race or at the start / finish line where every one was gathered.

At a New….
